Summer is here, and there’s no better time to be outdoors enjoying nature with your family. Here are some ways to entertain your children and have some family fun:
Set up games outdoors that adults and children can play together, like mini-golf, bocce, badminton, and croquet.
Sit around a backyard campfire roasting marshmallows while singing songs and telling stories.
Plan a trip to the beach and build sand castles.
If you decide to have pizza for lunch or dinner, plan a theme around the pizza. Put out checkered tablecloths and have the kids cut out silly mustaches made form paper and wear them. Or, plan a treasure hunt theme and dress up as pirates.
Find a good climbing tree, with an angled trunk and strong, low branches.
Make bubbles without using a wand. Make an OK sign with your fingers, place them in bubble solution, and blow gently.
Go bike riding.
Just run. Play tag, or just run in big fields of grass and have fun!
Make your very own hopscotch board with your own rules.
Run an egg race using spoons and red foam balls.
Make paper airplanes and see whose can go the farthest.
Organize a game of four square, with chalk, a ball, and at least four players.
Turn on sprinklers and cool off.
Punch a small hole in the bottom of each can, slide in a string, and knot it to make a tin can telephone.
Play games on an easy-to-wipe-clean chalkboard.
Play Lose the Donkey and Pin the Pepperoni on the Pizza.
Fill a pool with beach balls, rafts, tubes and all kinds of fun summer games.
Stuff a pinata with treats.
