Everyone loves beautiful plants, but most of us don’t care for the pests that sometimes go along with them. If you love plants, but hate bugs, here are some ways to get rid of them naturally.
Ants. Cucumbers are one example of natural pest control. Ants do not like cucumbers, especially cucumber peels. Spread some cucumber peels where ants seem to be a problem.
Growing certain plants around your home can also act as barriers to crawling pests. Plants known to repel ants and aphids include spearmint, peppermint, and pennyroyal.
Boiling water is excellent for ant control, or if you see where they might be creeping into your house, squeeze some lemon into the hole or crack.
For fly control, try planting mint and basil plants. They repel flies, but smell good to humans.
Snails. Snails dislike sand, lime, copper or ashes. Use these as barriers to keep snails away.
Roaches. Mix equal parts of baking soda and powdered sugar and spread around the area where you see roaches.
Winged Pests. Cloves are a natural deterrent against winged pests.
Fleas. Grinding rosemary leaves into a fine dust and sprinkling it on your pet or pets bedding can ward off fleas.
Aphids. Ladybugs eat aphids. Attract ladybugs to your garden naturally by planting parsley, wild buckwheat, white sweet clover, tansy, sweet funnel, sweet alyssum, spearmint, Queen Anne’s lace, hairy vetch, flowering buckwheat, crimson clover, cowpeas, common knotweed, caraway, and black locust.
